“Get your HTTPS on” because Chrome will mark all HTTP sites as “not secure” starting in July 2018. After years of pushing for secure web sites, Google will identify insecure sites in the Chrome browser beginning this July.
1. It protects your website’s integrity.
2. HTTPS protects the privacy & security of your users.
3. With HTTPS, the Web would be much safer, that’s the future.
Starting July 2018, with the release of Chrome 68, any site not protected with Secure-Socket Layer will be marked with the red-triangle of an insecure site. Chrome currently displays a neutral icon for sites that aren’t using HTTPS, but starting with Chrome 68, the browser will warn users in the address bar.
Businesses have been delaying securing their websites for years. They think, it may be too expensive or it will be a lot of trouble. Google isn’t going to accept any of these excuses anymore. You no longer have a choice but to secure a lock on your website. Google will mark all non-HTTPS sites as insecure this July.
To secure your website, you must install an SSL certificate, on your server. A certificate says to the client that you are who you say you are, and the issuer has verified that to be true. The type of SSL certificate you buy is important.
Before deploying any certificate you must know there are three different SSL certificate types.
Domain Validation (DV) SSL Certificates
Organization Validation (OV) SSL Certificates
Extended Validation (EV) SSL Certificates
These certificates vary with how much encryption they use. Depending on your business structure and needs, go for the certificate you think is suitable.
So, go ahead and let’s make our websites secure and make the Web a safer place!
